Visualization and editing – Basics of Landscape Photography – Episode 5

I think these two elements are extremely important to create a better photo and to make your mark as an artist on the photo. Visualization is equivalent to planning and it’s a complex process that follows the moment you know what your subject is. The goal of this process is for you to “see” with your mind’s eyes the final result of the photo. This doesn’t necessary mean that the final photo will look exactly like that: because it’s an artistic process it’s also a continuous one … so the final result will evolve. The base line is that this process will define trends in your photography depending on how you feel and will also help you get better at your photos by concentrating more on the photo and less on the actual technical settings.

Post processing or editing is something that I think you need to do in order to get your photos to a higher level. I see my editing as a step that needs to be taken in order to fulfill my vision or my idea. So the editing process serves an idea … it’s not just opening a photo in the editing software and pulling sliders.

There are more things said in the video so I’ll leave to it and hope to get a comment from you to let me know what is your take on this one.
