Today I’m photographing in the fields and I’m concentrating mainly on wild flowers. I will address the subject in three ways: using a long telephoto lens with the sun to my side, a regular 25-105mm and the sun will be behind the flowers and finally with a wide angle lens.
The rule when using long focal lens is to position yourself low enough to ensure a good separation from the background by the use of open diaphragm. When photographing with a wide angle you should concentrate on groups of flowers and stay close to them. Use settings like F11, F16 or even F22 if needed to ensure clarity over the entire image.
Finally you have the option to photograph with the sun behind the flower: this is my favorite because the light floods the frame and creates a special look. Pay attention to the white balance and lens flares and expose for the flower not the light coming from behind.
